Nursing Home Neglect

Both state and federal regulations mandate that the nurses and staff of the skilled nursing facilities adhere to minimum standards. Some of these standards require feeding, repositioning, and providing therapy for residents of skilled nursing facilities. Any failure to adhere to these requirements may indicate that you or your loved one has been neglected in spite of the clear letter of the law mandating a certain amount of care per day per resident. There is no excuse for ignoring a resident of a nursing home.

Settlements and verdicts alleging neglect are hard to find because this is generally a contributing factor in a suit involving a number of errors on the part of the skilled nursing facility operator. Healthcare providers owe the resident a duty of care and neglect is never permissible.
